Year-ahead thoughts...
December 2, 2003
Who says exactly what I need to do? Who wants to be stuck in Schenectady for the next four years let alone the rest of this year? My friends curse me for having some sort of marketable computer talent. When do I get to use it on my own?
I think I'd like to take a year off and live in San Francisco doing design or computer things. I wonder how I'd get started on something like that...

I think the first step would be introducing the idea to your parents. Very, very slowly. The next step would be to duck and cover. Or just cover your ears and hum while they tell you what they think. We'll work on the next steps after you get passed that part.

You just go ahead and do it. :)

You just go ahead and do it. If you're over 18, you don't need their signature on anything, and once they see you happy, that's all the info they need. Plus, hey, they'll be proud of you for handling it yourself.

You could actually talk to Mike (roommate) about starting stuff up...he's in his own fix-'em business...not quite the same thing, but sorta the same idea. Otherwise, I'd say since you're in the SF area definitely talk to Kat's dad. I think it's an awesome idea!
