Amid all the April Fools jokes that ran around today (my favorite being Mac-based - surprise) some interesting and real news items spread around the net.
   Kinja was released in beta (check megnut.com and nickdenton.org. It's been spreading pretty well so far but honestly, it seems a little under-featured. It's a beta, I get it. Kinja is a web-based aggregator with an excellently designed interface and ease-of-use like you've never seen. It lacks control at the moment, you put in a weblog URL and it autofinds your rss feed and displays it as it sees fit - no choice as to which feed (eclecticism has multiple feeds) it uses and no way to edit the feed URL once it's plugged in. IT ENDS EXCERPTS OF POSTS AT THE END OF A SENTANCE. And therefore it should be given awards. Kinja is the type of small company I'd love to work full time for - they have an opening for CTO at the moment and although I'm qualified for many things, CTO isn't one of them.
   Mena's Corner, a bridge 'twixt the company and their users, lauched the other day. It's (eventual) focus is to not keep the userbase and others out of the loop with what's going on at Six Apart. Hopefully it'll be updated enough to keep users satisfied - I'm still looking to get my name running around in there by writing some neat code - the idea for that code will be coming any day now...
   Speaking of Hanscom, he's been responding to a post by Eric Meyer (yes, THE Eric Meyer - I can't beleive I just said that) on the 'backwards' format of blogs. Perhaps it's just a ploy to get some new ideas running through a general design that seems stagnant but I think it has no merit - blogs will be formatted as they are and no one seems to be complaining but Eric so let them be. Well, that's half my arguement. The other half is telling me to design the coolest, most novel way to set up a weblog. We'll see about that. Until then Eric's original article is on his blog. Hanscom's first reply is here . Eric responds on his blog again and finially Hanscom posts again. Who knows if this will continue?
