As posted on movabletype.org, MT 3.0b will soon be released in public beta form. The kick is that they'll be letting everyone who signs up into the testing 'circle' in waves. Hopefully the testers will be allowed to upgrade previous installations (from 2.x) on public servers - since this is a public beta, I see no reason not to allow it. Hopefully I'll be able to get it and do a nice backup and upgrade so I can test the new features on my template as soon as they're available.
