Meme In The Face

June 8, 2005

I got meme'd by Alex and I think the internet would spite me if I didn't follow through. I need all the help I can get while trying to configure my WRT54G with OpenWRT so I guess I'll do it.

Total number of films I own on DVD/video: Oh... none. I think I had accumulated a couple before I moved out west but they weren't on the "important things" list. I don't see much of a point in owning DVDs because I don't like to watch them more than once every couple years unless they're five-star worthy. Besides, I can rent almost any given DVD from netflix and have it in roughly three days. Because of this I'm tailoring the questions so I have a legitimate answer to them.

The last film I bought/rented: I think the last thing I got from netflix was Good Will Hunting. It was pretty good.

The last film I watched: The most recently watched movie was 2 Days in the Valley. It was OK.

Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me (in no particular order):
The Matrix - Even now that I've read bits of Gibson and understand how totally *unoriginal* the ideas were, they were amazing when I first saw them. I recall being uninterested in seeing the movie at first which was probably why I went to see it with Scott Costin and not with regular people that have things like critical thinking skills and opinions.

Star Wars IV, V and VI - It might be the easy way out but they just don't get old to me. They're awesome over and over and over again and that has to say something about these movies.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Quotes or ideas from this movie come up in conversation often enough that random gaps in conversation would actually be noticable if this movie had never existed. Needless to say, I've seen it too many times and I'd like to see a video-mashup involving certain scenes before actually watching the entire thing through again.

10 Things I Hate About You - This is less of a quality movie (although it was still pretty funny/good) and more of a movie that means a whole lot to me. I was playing Petrucio in Taming of the Shrew (the Shakespearean play which the movie is based on if you weren't aware) at the time right before this movie came out and I think we all felt a special connection to the movie when we went to see it together. It represents a very high point in happiness in my life with a lot of great people that are probably still acting. I miss them very much.

A number of movies where I recall falling in love with someone while watching. Includes but is not limited to Big Fish, Hero, Adaptation, Catch Me If You Can, Edward Scissorhands, The Man Who Wasn't There, Spirited Away and Pi. Again, not all movies that are especially good but have a certain impact on me because of where I was when I saw them.

I have now completed the meme and command that the following people be put through the same;
Jamison - I know you're out riding your bike forever and ever but you can do this when you get back.
Walt - Not enough posting on your awesome blog. End of story.
Mark - I'm cross-memeing to LJ!
