Hi there,

The content on this blog is all archival, it's no longer active and you won't be able to post comments or trackbacks. If you're looking for active content from the same source, you should check out Nick's Vox blog.

Oh, the Brutality...

December 18, 2003

Inspiration is a funny thing. Closely tied to motivation, it lets me do one thing for hours on end with an outcome that I most often find very satisfying.
Take my last hour for example. I found an awesome blog design and it inspired me to create something that was unlike it in presentation but pulled from the same design elements. I'm happy with what I got out of it in photoshop but I feel terribly UNmotivated in terms of turning it in to some sort of website. I could draw up a million more designs just like it that I love and still feel unmotivated to place them in html. I think I may have done just too much with html over break so far.

I need a break from break. Sitting at home, doing next to nothing a good deal of the time (I'll admit, I did some pretty neat design stuff but it doesn't make up for all my wasted time) makes me want to get out.
Please, friends at college, come home soon and call me! If you're tired from all your exams when you get home you can still call me! I'll... sleep with you? In a very non-sexual way of course (for most of you at least, Tom not included).

Another fool would dig the broken car out from the snow and drive to find the show...

Just what I'm listening to at the moment. This CD carries with it way too many memories for me to listen to on a regular basis - but it's oh-so-good.

I feel like my site design should fit together better but at the same time, I kinda want to keep the design site away from the personal blog if I can help it. I don't really know if it's good or bad. Hey, I'm a college student. I've got problems and a good deal of them are out on the web for you to gawk out. Have fun!
You see, the problem lies with the fact that designers (ok, don't generalise) I, me, Nick, authgeek - go through design phases so fast that I'll love one design for a while but then I see something else that catches my eye and now forever this site is lacking what I now know to be design-worthy. This site is based off the center-align, window-hover, small-verdana-type phase (really a combination of those three seperate elements in a phase I have yet to name). But it lacks style in the posts and leaves something to be desired in the readability of the text on a red background. I'm starting to move in to a stylish-yet-minimalist phase which uses Geneva more than Verdana (as a font) and is very uniform in it's pages and style.

And redesign is starting to look good... except for all the html coding I have to do. Yuck. I know I promised a longer lasting design... I'm sorry.

I'll be home soon, promise!
