November 26, 2004

It was my first thanksgiving away from home and it's been more than survivable.
I did spend too many hours on a train though. As always, it's about an hour and half on two trains up to Oakland and then someone stops by to pick me up there. It was nice to see some friends but I was there two weekends ago as well so it wasn't like I hadn't seen them in a while. Dinner was excellent, as expected. The rest of the night was spent relaxing and watching Aladdin on DVD (which is, has and will always been an excellent movie). The only thing worse than sitting on a train for an hour and a half is doing it twice in the same day so I stayed there for the night and we planned on heading out today for a movie. We ended up seeing Finding Neverland which was excellent, in my opinion. You can't argue with a movie that has Depp and is about Barrie. Peter Pan tends to hold a place in my heart; both the Disney version and the play for many a-reason. And the scottish accent! There's nothing like a good Roddy-Woomble accent to really excite me :)

Anyway, I've been working on some projects of my own since I got home earlier and I will continue to do the same through the weekend. Every time I look at the calendar I see days that I was excited about and I'll be working through those days to keep my mind busy. I wish I could just let it be. For example, I was in a fine mood after I had seen the movie earlier this afternoon and I was dropped off at the Berkeley bart station. As I waited and pondered what was so excellent about this movie, I overheard a girl speaking to another guy. She was talking about a gift she had to get for her boyfriend and then she said "My boyfriend, y'know - the guy I've been cheating on with you" and all the pain came rushing back. It was said so casually that it *could* have been a joke between the two of them, I really don't know. Regardless of what context it was in, it destroyed me inside all over again to hear someone speak so unthoughtfully of someone else. It probably would have totally ruined my evening had I not spent the rest of my time on the train rationalizing about it with myself. An afternoon of highs and lows, I'm getting used to it.

As for the Roddy-Woomble accent, you must be certifiable.

As for cheaters - they're not the norm, I don't think. You just need to set your bar on someone who is worthy of you. End of comment. :)

God, Depp gets me off. That movie made me fucking sob my eyes out. So good!
