Hi there,

Fresh Comments

May 23, 2005

For some reason I was inspired to play with my blog this weekend which was really great because I've been working on another project that has totally stonewalled and I needed something else to do. We've got a new banner image which is not all that different from the old one but the old one has been around for quite some time. The thing that's really new and different is comment submission. I spent some time not only integrating my recent fdrlib stuff in to the comment form but also tweaking things slightly so that it's a little more difficult for spammers to toy with (not that I've had any problem with trackbacks or comments since I installed SpamLookup). To that end, you can again comment without a TypeKey account if you feel that you really must. Of course, now the requirement has changed from having a TypeKey account to having a modern browser (Safari, Firefox, IE6). Still... that probably covers 90% of the visitors to this site and just about everyone that would want to comment. It probably breaks ugly in lower browsers so beware. You can poke me if you can't comment and want to but I promise nothing unless you're having a strange problem with one of the modern browsers I pointed out above.

On a similar note, I did all the development for the new stuff on my mediatemple account with is not only awesomely packed with features (and they gave me more recently - for free!) but a bajillion times faster than the server I've been on at 1and1 for about a year. Cloning the server setup was fairly painless and I should be able to move everything over there in the next month or so taking my domain count to three. Not much of an improvement for you, dear reader, but it makes working with Movable Type that much faster. Oh yes, I was meaning to whore out the brand in this post as well; authenticgeek is powered by Movable Type. Now with fucking awesome comments.

I dont know why but suddenly miss nick. o how have i become the sarcastic one here at the U. oh well just saing Hi!

Ironic that Ben should poke his head here for the first time in a while on the same night that I would. I assure you, this was not planned. But I was just thinkin' that I hadn't talked to you in a while so I wanted to see what was up, and then I just had to check out the new comments feature. It really is cool.

Hope all is well, and that your teeth-induced sleepless nights come to an end soon!
