Review: Basement Jaxx - Kish Kash

January 18, 2004

My first really excellent music find of the year was a roundabout discovery. I had originally heard about Basement Jaxx from the Pringles - one of the CDs was sitting on the counter and I took a brief look at it but didn't put much more in to it. I heard Tom saying it was decent but I really had no idea what it was like. More recently, I found the CD in someone's iTunes library at school - and I love it.

I can't really come up with any witty review-type comments. In a world where most people cringe at house music, this breaks the mold. House is meant to be the electrifying mix that makes you want to move and Kish Kash captures every bit of that feeling.
Somewhat similar to Morcheeba - if you like one, you'll surely like the other.

And now I want to see them in concert! They'll be in australia for a while though... hopefully soon.

OMG! I swear to you - that's the CD in my kitchen CD player right now. I never thought you'd listen to it - I really like them too. Tres bizarre. (accents where ever you'd like them).

Should I be listening to Morcheeba? I listened maybe once or twice. Didn't grab me immediately. If I should reinvestigate and let them grow on me, let me know.
